JEKYLL ISLAND to BRUNSWICK / Friday, March 11 to Saturday, March 13 (Days 49-51)

Admiral's Log:     9:45am, Fri. 3/11/16
                         Temp:  70
                         Winds:  calm
                         Speed:  8 knots

Jekyll is not too far from Brunswick, so we decided to leave early because the noseeums were eating us up. Apparently they are active for about six weeks, two times a year, and of course we hit it right in the middle! As long as it's windy they are not too bad. Morningstar and Zephyr were coming in soon after.

We got to Brunswick Marina Landings at 11am. According to Loopers, there are days you watch the show; meaning other boaters having a hard time docking. Then there are days that you are the show. Well....this day we were the show. The wind was pretty rough and Mike had to take about three passes before he could get backed in. Sherry, the Dock Master was a riot, she told Mike she gave him an F, but my line handling skills got and A! That made my day.  So when Zephyr arrived, she told them on the radio she was grading them. Paul got a D+. When Mel arrived she told him about the grading system, he told her he would put us to shame, he could dock blindfolded. He actually did do a good job, but I think the pressure was on.

We all went to lunch at a cute place called "Tipsey's". I had a foot long hotdog. It comes with ketchup, mustard, relish, cheese, chili, sauerkraut, cole slaw and onion rings. I left off the slaw, kraut and had the chili on the side. Mike had a huge burger and the onion rings were the best!

My Hot Dog!
We happend to arrive the weekend of the Georgia Elivs Festival.  Several Elvis impersonators sang in some squares in town. It was so much fun. I got a napkin and gave it to Denise from Zephyr so she could wipe his brow. We wanted to give it to Mel, he had just told us a story about Elvis scarves, so knew he would get a kick out of it.  I bought a T-shirt and did my own impression.

We had cocktails on Morningstar and leftovers for dinner.

Denise swooned over this Elvis in his leather gear.

Good thing Elvis has left the building..

Saturday we went to the local farmer's market and bought some veggies and crab cakes from Earlene, that Sherry highly recommended. I hit the laundry, which was free! Then went on a 4 mile walk along the water. Got to try and keep the weight off whenever I can! All ten of us went to dinner at this fabulous place called Southern Table and Bar. I had the best fried chicken ever! We all agreed, it was so moist and tender. Mike had meatloaf which he said was good, but not as good as mine, wink wink.

As we started to leave the owner heard we were boaters and surprised us with her "marina tradition". They uncapped small coke bottles, poured out some of the coke added bourbon (I ommitted the bourbon of course) and peanuts. We all cheered to good friends and good food. We all would highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Brunswick. They even posted our photo on their Facebook page.
