CROKER ISLAND Anchor to OAK BAY Hotham Anchor / Saturday, July 30 (Day192)

Admiral's Log:     9:05 am, Sat. 7/30/16
Air Temp:   70     Water Temp:   71
                        Winds:   5 mph
                        Speed:   8.0 knots

This was another very pretty anchorage. There were several sailboats when we arrived. By the end of the day there were 20 other boats. We had heard the cottagers here were totally different from the ones that yelled and waved their arms for us to go away. Rumor had it they sometimes invite boaters to their house for cocktails!
The guys grilled brats for lunch.

Mike and Joe went dingy exploring while Barb and I fished off the back of the boat. Barbara caught a small mouth bass, but not enough for dinner. Shortly after the guys returned, the cottager, Irene came by in her kayak and did invite us to their cottage for cocktails.

Boating camaraderie
At 5:00 all 20+ boaters brought their own drinks and snacks to share. What a fun evening. We met some Loopers from Canada and several boaters from Michigan that said they come to the North Channel for many years and have been invited to Irene and Norm's on several occasions. We thanked Irene several times and told her what a difference from the other cottagers we met. She said they have been boaters for years, and love the boating community.

After the guys grilled steaks for dinner, we went on a sunset dingy ride with Robert and Brenda of Over Ice at 8:30 and took some gorgeous sunset photos.
