POWER ISLAND Anchor to S. MANITOU ISLAND Anchor / Thursday, August 11 to Friday, August 12 (Days 204-205)

Admiral's Log:     9:15 am, Thrs. 8/11/16
Air Temp:   74     Water Temp:   73
                          Winds:   3 mph
                          Speed:   10 mph

We arrived at another anchorage with Over Ice at 2:30.  Morningstar II and Chica joined us later. Along the way we passed Phase II going to other way. Their son was coming to stay for a few days in Traverse City. While talking to Phase II on the radio Snow Goose hailed us. Another cool thing about the Looping community. We will be taking to to each other on the radio and another Looper we've met will chime in and see where we are and where we are going; hoping maybe we will meet up.

Grand Traverse Light
Abandoned Light... it is up for auction with a starting bid of 10K.
On our way to S. Manitou (one of bear cub islands) we were in over 600 feet of water!

Once we dropped anchor, everyone took their dingy's over to the shore for something to do and check out the surroundings.

We had pasta for dinner and watched the Olympics (luckily we have satellite TV).

Friday, we all went in 2 dingy's for a tour of the South Manitou Lighthouse.  The Manitou Islands are part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore Parks. The lighthouse is inactive, but they do turn the light on between Memorial and Labor Days. It was built in 1840 and deactivated in 1958.

Good Morning Michigan

Morningstar and Chica headed out after the lighthouse tour. We read and napped then Brenda and Robert came to our boat for dinner and watched some of the Olympics.
