KIMMSWICK to LITTLE DIVERSION CHANNEL Anchor / Wednesday, September 7 (Day 230)

Admiral's Log:     6:20 am, 9/7/16
Air Temp:   75     Water Temp:   76
                        Winds:   3 mph
                       Speed:   14.3 mph

As you can see, we left as soon as we thought we could see debris in the water. We had a long day ahead. Luckily there were no locks, so not much to slow us down. Five of us; Rowe Boat, Ocean Commotion, Sojourner, No Schedule and Copper Penny, headed to an anchorage Fern told us about, called Little Diversion Channel. She said 10 to 12 boats could anchor there. We knew 5 would already be there by the time we got there, so hoped she was right because there was not another anchorage close that could hold 5 boats.

One of the 30+ foot logs we have to watch for. It's the ones you can't see, you have to worry about.
Tows don't have to worry, they just carry the debris with them.
We passed several large rock quarry and coal mines.

Tugs everywhere!
30 barge tow! 5 across and 6 long

We arrived at the anchorage around 2 and saw Morningstar II, Chica, Lady Erica, Lucky Duck and Wye Tug already anchored. We rafted with Morningstar and had a nice visit with Mel and Ann, whom we had not had a chance to visit for a while. Mike and Mel helped Alan of Chica replace the impeller on his generator because his  AC had quit.

6 of the 10 boats anchored
We had Bar B Q chicken I had prepared in the crock pot, and fresh corn on the cob. Another early to bed night for one more early start, I hoped.
