PEORIA to HAVANA / Friday, September 2 (Days 225)

Admiral's Log:     8:30 am, Fri. 9/2/16
Air Temp:   61     Water Temp:   73
                        Winds:   4 mph
                        Speed:   11.2 mph

We were glad to hear the next two dams were wicket dams. If the water is high enough; which it is due to the flooding, the dam walls or wickets are lowered then you just drive your boat right over the walls. No locking or tying up.

The lock is to the left, that is where we would normally lock through. Instead we just crossed over the right side of the dam.
Liquid Assets on the left crossing over the dam.

We saw a few carp jumping but not as many as we had expected. We had heard they have even jumped in some people's boat. Lori of Phase II sent me a picture of one that jumped in their dingy. We were told to kill them before putting back in the water, that's why the blood.

Dead carp in Phase II boat.
We arrived at Tall Timbers Marina in Havana at 1pm. It was small but cute and friendly staff. We had a drink with Sojourner, the power catamaran and Liquid Assets.

A local boater let us borrow his car to pick up a few things in town. The boating community can be pretty cool.

Later we walked to dinner at Babe's with Liquid Assets and Have Another Day. Mike, Tim and Ben had Babe's speciality; the Horseshoe. It's a burger topped with fries and melted cheese. Kind of reminded us of Canadian Potine; instead of gravy it was melted cheese.
