FLORENCE to HUNTSVILLE, AL / Monday, September 26 (Day 248)

Admiral's Log:     7:05 am, 9/26/16
Air Temp:   68     Water Temp:   80
                        Winds:   calm
                        Speed:   10 mph

We left early since we had planned a long day to Ditto Landing Marina in Huntsville and we had 2 locks to go through. You never know how long the locks will take; especially if there are tows waiting to go up or down river.

Our first lock was the Wilson Lock and Dam. The highest single lock east of the Rockies; nearly 100 feet! It took 20 minutes to be lifted, which is really pretty darn fast when it took that long to go 20 feet in the Trent Severn.

Entering the Wilson Lock, it's massive, this pictures don't due justice.
Before the 96 foot lift...
after the lift.
Another after the lift.
Exiting the lock.
The dam stretches 4500 feet across the river.

Joe Wheeler Lock and Dam

52 feet up.
Sights along the way.

Nina and Pinta again, at Decatur Marina.
A little known fact, I'm sure.
We arrived at Ditto Landing at 3:25, where we just chilled and had an easy dinner of spaghetti and a salad.
