HUNTSVILLE to SCOTTSBORO, AL / Tuesday, September 27 to Monday, October 3 (Days 249-256)

Admiral's Log:     7:40 am, 9/27/16
Air Temp:   64     Water Temp:   78
                        Winds:   calm
                        Speed:   10.3 mph

We headed to our old stomping grounds. We lived in Scottsboro for 8 years, from 1992 to 2000 before we moved to Tampa. We docked the boat at Goose Pond Colony Marina for a week while we visited Mike's parents and a few old friends.

Luckily the legendary "Diesel Don" is from Scottsboro, so Mike had him check out a fuel leak while we were there as well.

Entering the Guntersville Lock and Dam.
Supervising as usual...
Me at the bottom of the lock...
After 45 foot lift.
Some of the sights along the way.

Girls swimming with their horse, kind of cool.
Protected "Bat" Cave

Bridge from Guntersville to Scottsboro, we traveled hundreds of times in 8 years.
Thursday we had dinner at the the Rock House in Guntersville, with an old high and college school friend, Philip Strange and his wife Marian.

Saturday, Adrian Martin, another friend arranged a get together at her house on Lake Guntersville. We watched the Auburn game, shared memories and caught up on some 40+ years.  We have such fond memories of our college years...the 40+ years seem like yesterday!

Monday we joined 7 other Looper couples at the Guntersville Yacht and Country Club to celebrate Morningstar II crossing their wake. It was awesome seeing them all again. Some of us had gone different ways and had not seen each other for awhile. And the biggest surprise was Kevin (she) and Steve of Lone Star, flew into Birmingham from St. Louis (where their boat is at the moment).

The whole gang!

Toasting Ann and Mel on their achievement.

The "Girls of the Loop"  just missing Carol of Liquid Assets and Denise of Zephyr.

The "Gold" Burgee, very few can say they've earned!
