PICTON to TRENTON / Tuesday, June 21 to Wednesday June 22 (Day 152-153)

Admiral's Log:     8:00 am, Tues. 6/21/16
Air Temp:   58     Water Temp:   55
                        Winds:   2 mph
                        Speed:   9.7 knots

Pretty windy day, but our boat can handle it. We saw 3 footers and white caps. The wind was coming right at our faces, so I put on my hood, sat in a chair in the sun backwards and read a book.

Who is that masked man?

We got to the marina at noon. Wow, what a nice marina!! By far the nicest so far. It's called the Trent Port Marina. We heard the state just spent over 17 million on this marina and it shows! Brand new floating docks, security gates to each dock, 10 awesome bathroom pods they are called; where the toilet, sink and shower are all in one room. I usually take a shower on the boat, and they are short to conserve water. So I'm taking advantage here and taking a nice, looong, hot one today! There are three sets of free Duet washers and dryers. A boater's lounge, cafe and meeting room. And great internet so I can catch up on my Blog, email, Facebook and Words with Friends game. As boaters, it's the little things that mean a lot!

We are staying here for 2 days just to have a little down time and get caught up on the above.  Did I say it's an awesome marina?! Plus it's very windy again today. So another good excuse.

Mike and I walked about a mile or so to get a Canadian fishing license and got some more money exchanged. Then Sea Trek joined Dave, Lori and us for dinner at Tomasso's Italian restaurant.

Wednesday, we fixed breakfast then Mike and Dave walked to a bait store and bought worms.  Suppose to be the best bait for fishing up here. Hoping to catch bass, walleye, perch, northern pike and maybe muskie (whatever that is). It is maintenance day. Mike is filling the water tanks and checking the engine room. I cleaned and vacuumed, more laundry and catching up on the Blog. Blog posts may be few and far between from now on. Not sure what kind of WIFI we will have along the Trent Severn Waterway.

The TSW is 240 miles long and has 44 locks! It connects Lake Ontario with the Georgian Bay, starting at the Trent River and ending at Severn River.
Construction began in 1833 and took 87 years to complete. It is pretty much made up of little villages along the way. From everything we've heard, this will be one of the highlights of our trip. We will tie up along city walls. There will be times where we might be in the middle of a city! According to Loopers who have been here already, say the locals are so friendly and very interested in our adventure. They sometimes even follow you to the next lock to carry on the conversation. We plan to spend about 2 weeks on the Waterway.

We got together at Docktails to plan our first leg then left overs for dinner and a little TV.
