WATERFORD to AMSTERDAM / Saturday, June 11 (Day 142)

We have to go through the first five locks (flight) in two hours. We will rise 169 feet in 1.5 miles, the highest rise in the shortest distance on the canal. We proceeded to locks 7 through 10. These locks are an amazing feat of engineering.

We got to the Amsterdam wall at 3:50; paid 10$ for power and 1$ a foot. We had dinner at the park restaurant with Phase II, Lazy Suzan and 3 other new Loopers. The food was good, but the service was terrible. Took us 2 hours just to get food.

Our 3 hour Anniversary Dinner

It was the best we could do for our 39th Anniversary. But I really can't complain. Everyone sang to us and the restaurant gave us all complimentary ice cream. They were very nice and tried their best, but we just don't think they are used serving large crowds.
