Hoping we are on a roll, another sunny day to cross Lake Oneida. We walked to town and had a great breakfast with Phase II and Grayling.

Can't resist these pictures.  Me, Casey and Bonnee
We passed a not so cool lighthouse. Then we needed to stop at a boat yard for a new power chord. Mike and Casey were walking the boat up the wall at Little Falls and stretch the chord and messed up the plug somehow. Remember...it's a boat.

We got the Winter Harbor Marina at 10:15. There was a PDQ, catamaran round up there at the same time, but luckily they had room for us. Lazy Suzan was there, as well as a couple of other Loopers we had not met yet.

Bonnee and I got in some steps and walked for a while.  Mike and Casey took the courtesy car to the airport and rented a car we were going to use to go to the Fingers Lakes wine tasting the next couple of days.

The guys fixed steaks on the grill and Bonnee and I fixed roasted beets and potatoes for dinner.

Friday, us, Bonnee and Casey and Dave and Lori of Phase II drove to the Finger Lakes for a day of wine tasting. We had breakfast at Geneva first so they could have food on their bellies just in case. Most of the places had flights of 3 or 5 different wines. Lori and I pretty much took pictures, neither of us are wine drinkers.

Our first stop was Belhurst Castle. Built in 1888 as a private home, it now houses 11 bedrooms, a restaurant, a shop and is also a popular wedding venue.

On the grounds of the Seneca Winery, we had a picnic of a bottle of wine (of course), water, cheese, crackers and fruit. Also took these hilarious cardboard photos here!

After 10 wine tastings, we checked into a hotel, showered and walked to dinner at Kindred Fare, which was recommend by the hotel. Oh boy, were they wrong. The food was tasteless! No one was thrilled with their choices and it was not a cheap place.
The Finger Lakes are quite pretty. Terraced hillsides, reminds you of Napa and Italy.

Saturday, we had continental breakfast at the hotel and headed to Watkins Glen. There was going to be a cardboard boat race at 2 and thought it would be fun to watch. But there were more wineries to be had. So we found one open at 10 and off to the races.

Crazy Bonnee!
Not sure if these people were Amish or Mennonites, but we saw quite a few in the area.

We had lunch in Watkins Glen at Nichols Bar B Que, boy was it good! Way too much of course but really good. Then walked to the cardboard boat races. Some of them were quite creative. There were supposed to be 42 participating boats. It was pretty crowded so could not get very good pictures of the boats in the water.

These 2 little kids actually made it to the finish line.
Not sure how the Mash car did
We got home around 4:30. Casey and I went to Walgreens' and Walmart and returned the rental car. We were all pretty full from lunch so just has cereal or nothing for dinner and crashed pretty early.

  2. Thanks Denise, been a blast so far. I would but she left Monday. Thanks for commenting. Not sure who all is reading this. But I'm doing it as much for me as anyone. Plan to print entire blog when we are through, so I can remember all we did.
